MASSIVE FLEET RACES AT THE 2019 IFCA FOIL WORLDS

The Vanora ENGADINWIND by Dakine 2019 IFCA FOIL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS Welcomed 71 Competitors from 18 Nations and 3 Continents.

5 Foil races were completed on the first competition day in winds from 9 to 18 knots. Luuc van Opzeeland won the first heat of the first IFCA Foil World Championship.

The Dutch Luuc van Opzeeland surprises everyone with his performance during the opening race of the championship. The skillful French Men Julien Bontemps was never far behind and managed to steal the show in race #2 – crossing the finish line in full speed flight mode.

The Australian Steve Allen – the 2019 Formula Foil World Champion – found his pace during the last 2 races of the day finishing race #4 in 2nd and winning race #5.

The Races are tight with frequent position changes throughout the course here on Lake Silvaplana.

The next few days will be intense for the top-ranked competitors due to the special conditions and thermal winds that start to fill in after midday, a max of 6 races are allowed per competition day and the discards are given after 4, 7, 11, 16 races.
