☝ NEW RACING RULES FOR SLALOM

In November 2019 Worldsailing approved the new WINDSURFING SLALOM RACING RULES. These rules took effect on 1 January 2020. These new rules replaced the Racing Rule of Sailing and the Experimental Slalom Competition Rules we have been using.

What has changed?

Not much compared to Experimental Slalom Competition Rules which we used during the last 2 years.

The most important change is in rule 62 “REDRESS” In this rule, the possibility of requesting a redress has been removed if your result is significantly worse in the result by someone else’s mistake. For example, because you were not given room when rounding a buoy.

From the 1st of January 2020, you can no longer get redress for this, as was done in the past by giving you advance to the next round.

Redress still will be given if your result is significantly worse by giving help to somebody in danger, a mistake of the race committee or organisation or a competitor who is penalized for rule 2 (FAIR SAILING) or rule 69.2 (MISCONDUCT)

All the other rules are similar to the Experimental Slalom Competition Rules. See the simplified explanation of the rules..
