GWA Windsurf Cup invites international competitors

Six events are on the calendar of the GWA Windsurf Cup 2015! And the best is: Competitors from foreign countries are not only allowed but very welcome at all events. Since many years several international riders participate at German tour stops. This international participation creates a unique open and free atmosphere.

The events have a great reputation for the excellent performance of the crew on the water and the high level of organization at the beach. The two key events on Sylt invite up to over 100,000 spectators to the beach and the setup is on the same level as the biggest World cups. Besides the competition itself the competitors and spectators can experience a great event and party program.

For 2015 Choppy Water is again presenting a selection of events that are very interesting for international riders: The season kicks off with the “Surf & SUP Opening Fehmarn” from May 1st to 3th. Several Riders from Denmark, Sweden and Netherland, all in all 110 competitors were part of this season start in the last year.

The month of May offers another highlight: From May 12th to 17th the “Funboard Racing Championships” will take place at the Summer Opening on Sylt. Last year the event had over 80,000 spectators. The event offers a total prize money of 10,000 euros. This event counts for the German and also for the re-launched European series, the Euro-Cup. Competitors who are active in both disciplines should definitely mark this regatta in their calendar.

Just one week later at the Whitsun weekend the GWA Windsurf Cup will take place on the infamous party island of Norderney. The North Sea offers great conditions. For riders from the Benelux countries this is just a small jump over the border and, for everybody who is interested in a great party weekend besides the windsurfing competition, this is definitely the place to be from May 22nd to 25th.

After a short break in June the Windsurf Cup heads to the beautiful seaside village of Kuehlungsborn on the East German Baltic coast. Not too far from the Polish border. This event from July 10th to 12th can be an interesting option especially for riders from Poland and the Baltic countries.

At the end of the month the IFCA Slalom World Championships will take place at the legendary Volvo Surf Cup on Sylt. From July 21st to 26th the German windsurfing elite will be challenged by riders from all over the world to fight for the official title “Slalom World Champion 2015”. With over 120,000 spectators and 15,000 prize money the Volvo Surf Cup is the biggest of the Choppy Water events. This Cup counts for the German ranking as well as for the Euro-Cup 2015.

The final Cup of the German windsurf season will take place from August 7th to 9th in Schoenberg (near to Kiel). The beach of Schoenberg is one of the beautiful windsurf spots on the Baltic coast. With several live acts, party and BBQ this Cup will be the perfect finish for the season.
