The first competition day of the IFCA European Slalom Championships could not have gone better. Three complete eliminations in the discipline Foil Slalom could be held on Thursday at the Multivan Windsurf Cup Borkum. The reigning Multivan Windsurf Cup Champion Michele Becker (GER-277, Patrik Windsurfing) from Kiel dominated. He won all three races and leads the result list at the end of the first day. Thus Becker sets the course towards the European Championship title in Foil Slalom and can hope for an attractive part of the total 10.000 Euro prize money.
Michele Becker was able to secure the first 500 Euros directly in the opening elimination. As part of the LVM Versicherung Grand Prix, there was 1,000 euros up for grabs for the top 3. In addition to Becker, Fabian Wolf (GER-404, FMX Racing, Gun Sails) in second place won 300 euros and Jonne Heimann (GER-107, JP, Neil Pryde) in third place won 200 euros. Scotty Stallman (GBR-68, Tabou, GA-Sails) and Leo Richter (GER-9, JP, Neil Pryde) completed the Top-5.
In the second elimination, Becker repeated his triumph. World Cup pro Nico Prien (GER-7, JP, Neil Pryde) from Schönberg captured second place ahead of Italy’s Ennio Dal Pont (ITA-465, Fanatic, Duotone). Fabian Wolf confirmed his strong performance with fourth place as did Scotty Stallman with 5th.
In the last race of the day Michele Becker could complete his hat trick with a win. Nico Prien made the podium with another second place. Fabian Wolf was in the top group with a third place. Enio Dal Pont also continued his successful regatta with fourth place. Frenchman Pierre Macquaert (FRA-945, JP, Neil Pryde) managed his best result so far.

After three eliminations, each rider can scratch his worst result. In the event ranking Michele Becker now leads with the ideal score of 0.0, followed by Nico Prien with 4.0 points. Fabian Wolf can claim third place on the podium with 5.0 points. Italy’s Ennio Dal Pont defends fourth place with 7.0 points ahead of Great Britain’s Scotty Stallmann with 9.0 points.
Promising conditions are again forecast for Friday. With a forecast wind force of five, the second discipline Fin Slalom can be held with a bit of luck. The IFCA European Slalom Championships will run until Sunday as part of the Multivan Windsurf Cup Borkum. At 15:30 the European Slalom Champions will be crowned at the award ceremony.
