CALM BEFORE THE STORM: DAY 1 IN DENMARK WITH HONORS AND ANTICIPATION

The 2024 IFCA Grand Slam Fin Slalom World Championships kicked off today in Hvide Sande, with 107 of the world’s top athletes from 15 countries ready to compete for the 7 prestigious World titles until September 14th.

The day started with the official opening and the riders briefings on rules and regulations, setting the stage for the exciting days ahead. The Major, IFCA President and Organizer welcomed everyone and shared their appreciation thankfulness to all volunteers and wished the athletes the best of luck. A special highlight was the presentation of the “Ceri Williams Award,” honoring Bruno De Wannemaeker for his long-standing service to windsurfing and his involvement with the IFCA Class. The award was presented by IWA secretary Piotr Oleksiak, marking a memorable start to the event.

Unfortunately, the wind conditions weren’t strong enough to begin racing, leading to a day of rest and anticipation. While the athletes await favorable conditions, the opening ceremony set a festive tone, and the event is now on standby for the action-packed days ahead.

Stay tuned – the calm before the storm has begun, and the competition is about to heat up!
