2023 PAN AMERICAN CHAMPIONS SUCCESFULY AWARDED IN BONAIRE

The Pan-American Slalom windsurfing Open championship, presented by Pro Kids and Aquaspeed Bonaire Windsurfers, has returned to the Dutch Caribbean Island of Bonaire and has become part of the 1st Annual International Sports Week. This international event is an exciting competition for windsurfing enthusiasts from the Caribbean region but also Open to other nations. This year, the competition has been introduced to the new IFCA global ranking pointing system, which adds even more significance to the event.

The inscriptions day:  took place at the Kas di Regatta in Kralendijk. The event saw a large turnout of windsurfing enthusiasts from all over the world. The registration process went smoothly, and the participants were excited about the new global ranking pointing system. The event’s organizers did a great job of ensuring that everything was in place and ready for the competition day.

Competition Day 1: The first competition day finally arrived on Friday, with the skippers meeting scheduled for 2 pm. The weather was perfect, with total sunshine and winds of up to 22 knots. The participants were excited about the competition, and the spectators, supporters and parents were eager to witness the action. The first races began at 3 pm, and the competition was intense right from the start. The windsurfers battled it out on the water, and the competition was fierce until late afternoon.

Competition Day 2: An early start on a cloudy day.

On the second day of the PanAmerican Slalom windsurfing championship, the weather was somewhat rainy and cloudy. However, this did not stop the action, and the competition continued with full enthusiasm. The best racing action was undoubtedly in the junior boys and girls divisions, with some impressive performances from the young windsurfers.

The competition was intense, and the athletes displayed their skills and determination on the water.

The organizers did an excellent job of providing a tasty local lunch, which was enjoyed by the participants and spectators alike. The local cuisine added to the event’s cultural charm and provided a great opportunity for the participants to experience the local culture.

The spectators enjoyed watching the races and cheering on their favorite athletes. The event’s atmosphere was lively and exciting, with a sense of community and togetherness. Competition Day 3:  The third day of the Pan-American Slalom windsurfing championship was a shorter day, with the final races taking place until mid-day. The winds were favorable for the competition, and the athletes gave their all to secure a spot on the podium. After the final races, there was a photo session with the winners and participants. It was a great opportunity for the athletes to celebrate their achievements and capture some memories of the event.

The day concluded with the awards ceremony, which took place in the late afternoon. The event was attended by the sport minister representative, who gave a speech about the importance of events like this for the promotion of sports and tourism. The athletes who excelled during the competition received their trophies and titles, and the organizers were recognized for their hard work and dedication to making the event a success.
