2019 IFCA SLALOM Y&W WORLDS DAY 2: ALI MAGA WINS FIRST HEAT

Europe’s heat wave felt in La Tranche

The second competition day started early with the skippers meeting at 08:00 and the first possible start scheduled for 08:30. The race committee was ready to push for some racing as very motivated competitors went out in winds from 10 to 15 knots.

The Youth Men division managed to sail and complete 1 heat while others were announced canceled due to unsuitable conditions. Turkey’s Ali Maga wins the first heat of the Championship followed by Joel Loties (FRA), Justus Schott (GER), Yann Brancato (FRA), James Faley (GBR) and Petr Cech (CZE) completed the top 6 competitors who advance from heat 1.

The conditions soon became difficult and tricky with wind shifts and large lulls allowing for cancellations of several heats and long waiting periods.

Before midday the wind completely died off and competitors were sent back to the beach while temperatures kept on rising sky high. The day turned into a hot summer day with a crowded beach. All competitors were being put on hold until the late afternoon which resulted in:
