Early Start and Foil Racing Commencement on Day 3 while the Day 2 was met with unfavorable weather conditions as rain and overcast skies persisted throughout the entire day. Athletes were eventually released. Day 3 dawned with renewed enthusiasm as the event kicked off with an early morning start.

The IFCA Slalom European Championship within the Multivan Windsurf Cup Borkum was a great success. The event was endowed with a total of 10,000 euros in prize money. 9.000 Euro by the Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH and additionally 1.000 Euro within the “Grand Prix of the LVM Versicherung”. Nearly 40 participants from 14 different nations had registered. The only drawback of an otherwise ideal event was that the wind was unfortunately not strong enough for the second discipline Fin Slalom to take place.

by adminThe first race of the day started with a shock moment for the reigning Multivan Windsurf Cup Champion Michele Becker. Before the race even started he injured himself on his foil system and then had to start the race with a big cut in his thigh. With heavy bleeding he fought his way through the complete elimination. He did not let himself be distracted and also secured his fourth victory in the fourth race of the event.

Michele Becker was able to secure the first 500 Euros directly in the opening elimination. As part of the LVM Versicherung Grand Prix, there was 1,000 euros up for grabs for the top 3. In addition to Becker, Fabian Wolf (GER-404, FMX Racing, Gun Sails) in second place won 300 euros and Jonne Heimann (GER-107, JP, Neil Pryde) in third place won 200 euros. Scotty Stallman (GBR-68, Tabou, GA-Sails) and Leo Richter (GER-9, JP, Neil Pryde) completed the Top-5.

The IFCA Slalom Europeans will draw a lot of attention. IFCA is the only body that offers separate disciplines for fin slalom and foil slalom. The participants may decide if they compete in one or the other discipline or even in both. So the riders may follow their personal preferences.
