The 2017 IFCA Slalom Worlds for Women and the European Championships for Men could almost finally start on day 3.
Day 3 so far with the best morning breeze, the beach was full and competitors got ready and went out to finally start racing. The sky was dark and cloudy, temperatures a little on the chill side but the wind was there but at the same time disappointing. It seemed as if the start of heat #1 for the Men was going to happen, but wind measurements were unsuitable before the start, around the – 10 to 13 knots – at some times. The Race committee decided to wait, hoping conditions would improve by a few more knots, instead it just got lighter and lighter. The competitors were sent back to the beach after approximately 15minutes out on the water and with no sign of wind improvements.
It was the same story all over again, Back to standby mode, with the AP flag dancing on the beach pole, No sunshine yet all smiles here in La Tranche sur Mer. Postponements after postponements were made, the wind even shifted to the right direction in the afternoon but even the thermal winds were to weak, blowing at 8 to 11 knots and roping again.
The event was eventually called off at 17:30.
Tomorrow looks like another surprise, as we don’t really know what will happen.
Next days first possible start is scheduled at 10:30
