2019 IFCA ABC TOUR : ON ITS SECOND STOP IN ARUBA

2019 IFCA ABC TOUR at the Fishermens Hut| 17 -19 May

The IFCA ABC Tour second stop Aruba, started last Saturday, May 18th with 32 athletes. Some returned from the neighboring islands for their second event, while others signed up for the first time. During the first races the wind conditions were very strong, with 25 knots in the morning with 4 eliminations to go. The wind picked up in the afternoon, up to 30 knots making it more challenging for the sailors to finish the last 6 eliminations of the day.

Some athletes with leading podium position like Nigel Hart from Bonaire (NB 65) had the misfortune to break the end of his boom making it difficult for him to recover his position.

A young, up coming and talented athlete from Curaçao: Kaj Rozeboom with only 12 years competed fearlessly in the category Under 15 demonstrating his skills and achieving results with the big boys.

Sunday, the morning started with wind conditions between 20 to 25 knots with a total of 4 eliminations and a final fun race where all athletes from all categories from the ABC islands sailed together in a friendly and positive atmosphere. The IFCA ABC Dutch Caribbean Tour event gives the opportunity to the island athletes to experience an upfront, real competitive atmosphere and prepares the athletes for the international championships.
